Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Social Services, Christian Early Childhood Education and Care (in Finnish)

The Bachelor of Social Services, Christian Early Childhood Education and Care programme offers a pathway to social work and early childhood education roles in church community work and kindergarten.

The programme prepares students for a range of social service roles in youth work, child protection, mental health work, work with offenders, immigrants, seniors and people with disabilities, service guidance, social insurance, employment services and rehabilitation in the public and third sectors and private-sector service provision.

In addition, the programme qualifies graduates for kindergarten teaching positions and for work as a Parish Coordinator for Early Childhood Education and Care in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland.

Parish coordinators for early childhood education and care are educators whose work focuses on children and families. Their tasks include the organisation, coordination, steering and development of early childhood work (i.e. child and family social work) in parish organisations.

The work typically involves group activities as well as working with individuals and homes.

Graduates from this programme can work as early childhood education specialists in parish organisations and participate in the delivery and development of educational activities, family work and worship activities.

They can also work in cooperation with secular early childhood education services and other educational institutions and organisations.

Extent: 210 credit points (ECTS)
