Early on Friday morning, 15 May 2026, authorities issued a drone threat warning in the Uusimaa region, instructing local residents to seek shelter indoors. The situation was resolved by around 7:00 AM.
As similar incidents may occur in the near future, Diak has established a contingency plan for situations where authorities advise sheltering indoors.
Student checklist
As a student, you can do your part to help ensure that teaching arrangements and communications run smoothly during such events. Please take the following steps:
- Download the 112 Suomi app to your phone to ensure you receive official emergency alerts directly. You can download it from your phone’s app store
- Make sure you have the Tuudo app installed. Check from time to time that you are logged in, and enable push notifications so you don’t miss official updates sent out by Diak.
- In the event of an emergency, monitor the 112 Suomi app, updates on Tuudo or news feed of the Student Guide, and reliable news outlets (e.g. Yle News).
- Switch to remote learning: As a rule, teaching will move online during indoor sheltering situations. If you have face-to-face classes scheduled when an emergency occurs, please monitor both your course page in Diakle and your Diak student email for updates. Teaching staff will use Diakle or email to communicate any arrangements for individual courses.
- Work placements: If you are currently on a work placement, please follow the specific guidance and instructions provided by your placement provider.
