Aura Vuorenrinne, Head of Communications and Marketing at Diaconia University of Applied Sciences (Diak), has been appointed Director of Communications and Marketing at Diak, effective August 1, 2026. This appointment strengthens the UAS’ strategic profile and ensures the continued readiness of its communications in a changing operating environment.
Aura Vuorenrinne has served as Head of Communications and Marketing at Diak since 2016. Before joining Diak, she gained diverse international experience in communications and marketing roles. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences and a Bachelor’s degree in Culture and Arts (Media).
In her new role, Vuorenrinne is responsible for the strategic management and development of Diak’s communications, marketing, and stakeholder relations as a member of the UAS’ Executive Group.
Diak aims to raise its profile
With this appointment, Diak is responding to the rapid changes taking place in the higher education sector and society. By strengthening the role of the Director of Communications and Marketing, Diak aims to raise its profile as an even more influential participant in public discourse and as an educator.
This same reform ensures Diak’s ability to communicate effectively in exceptional circumstances. In an increasingly complex communications environment, the ability to communicate reliably, quickly, and seamlessly in all situations is a critical success factor for the organisation.
“Diak does exceptionally meaningful work toward a more just world. It is motivating to continue steering our communications and marketing in this updated role and to further strengthen Diak’s voice and visibility in society. At the same time, we are developing our ability to respond more agilely and responsibly to the global security situation, which also poses challenges for universities”, says Aura Vuorenrinne.
Kati Komulainen, CEO and President of Diak, emphasizes the importance of the strategic role of communications.
“Under Aura Vuorenrinne’s leadership, Diak’s communications and marketing have been developed in a sustained and effective manner. Our operating environment is now changing rapidly, and communications require both a strong strategic vision and continuous operational readiness”, says Komulainen.
