Diak’s new strategy introduces a mobile campus model

Diaconia University of Applied Sciences has launched a new strategy 2021–2030 today, the 30th of November 2020. The new strategy has been created by Diak’s students, staff, and partners.

Diak’s strategic strengths are eco-social education, ethical expertise, themes of diversity and pedagogy aiming at encountering people in many levels.

A good world for everyone

– After the world is a good world for everyone, Diak is no longer needed.  This thought summarises the purpose of our existence, explains the chair of Diak’s Executive Board Hannu Harri.

In its new strategy, Diak states that it will keep on working as long as the world needs to change – and if one day the work is done, it means that Diak has fulfilled its purpose and is no longer needed.

– This message signals that Diak is serious about its task and ready to question its methods and the reason for its existence. It explains our mission in Finland, in Europe and globally, Harri expands.

Mobile campus model re-invents education

One of the most crucial goals is a learning platform based on a mobile campus model, which answers to national educational needs in Diak’s eduactional fields: social work, health care sector, diaconal work, and interpreting.

– We plan to offer contact studies and blended learning in different areas and to answer needs of the working life even better than before. This impacts Diak’s campus network. Decisions on shrinking Diak’s campus network are due to be made in spring 2021, Hannu Harri says.

In addition, knowledge hubs that serve the Finnish higher education field and working life are established in Diak. The first of them is a knowledge hub on interpreting in cooperation with Humak University of Applied Sciences.
