An accident took place at Diak’s Helsinki campus on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. The individual passed away in hospital the following day.
The person was a student and the situation occurred inside the campus building. The tutors present handled the situation in an exemplary manner.
Diak will not release further details about the course of events or the identity of the deceased student.
The student’s group and tutors were informed of the passing earlier this week. A moment of silence in memory of the student was held within the group on Tuesday. Both the Student Counsellor and the Campus Chaplain have offered support and counseling to the group and tutors. Diak’s President has been in contact with the student’s family and has expressed condolences.
There were several eyewitnesses to the incident, and it may have been distressing for many. Diak has arranged and will continue to offer support and counseling to anyone in need. Students can contact the Student Counsellor or the Campus Chaplain at the Helsinki campus. The Chaplain also offers support to staff members.
