SatakuntaJOB helps job seekers with an immigrant background improve their language skills and find employment in Satakunta.
The SatakuntaJOB project supports job seekers with an immigrant background in Satakunta by helping them learn Finnish, improve their employability, and advance along educational pathways through the use of gamified methods. The project offers language training, job search guidance, and digital learning materials, and develops the diversity and gamification skills of the professionals who guide the target group in their counseling work.
Learning Finnish supports employment, and game-based methods reinforce learning
Many job seekers with an immigrant background face barriers to employment, such as limited proficiency in Finnish, limited professional networks, uncertainty about Finnish workplace practices, and challenges in articulating their skills during the job search. Furthermore, prior education or work experience does not always translate directly to the Finnish job market.
SatakuntaJOB addresses these challenges by offering Finnish language instruction, job search guidance, and support for planning educational and career paths. The project’s activities combine language learning, workplace skills, and game-based methods, which increase participants’ motivation and strengthen interaction during guidance sessions.
Support for learning Finnish, job hunting, and educational pathways
Job seekers with an immigrant background in Satakunta need Finnish language instruction, intensive job search guidance, and help in identifying suitable training opportunities. The main goal of the project is to strengthen participants’ Finnish language skills, workplace competencies, and employability, and to help them move toward education, employment, or other personal goals.
Diakonia University of Applied Sciences is the lead implementer of the project, and Satakunta University of Applied Sciences is a co-implementer. The Satakunta Employment Region is a partner in the project.
