Diak’s quality system is audited this week

The quality system of Diaconia University of Applied Sciences is audited between 1st and 2nd of September 2020 by external auditor team set up by the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre Karvi. The evaluation round is a retake, because Diak’s quality system did not meet the requirements of the last audit in 2017.

Since then, the quality system of Diak has been developed in multiple ways.

– Our quality system has been strengthened with enforcing the visibility of strategic management and leadership and paying even more attention to the feedback from our students. Additionally, the impact of our innovation work has been systematized. The quality system helps us to do our work even better, states Diak’s CEO and Rector, Mr. Tapio Kujala.

Independent evaluation through external audition

In Finland, the quality systems of higher education institutions are audited regularly.

– The goal of external evaluation is to invite staff, students, and partners to recognise Diak’s strengths and good practices as well as points of further development. The aim is to strengthen the means for ongoing development, says Director of Services Mrs. Elina Juntunen.

In an external audition, the functionality and impact of the quality system of the higher education institution is evaluated. The procedures for maintaining and developing quality are in focus.

– For students and student union O’Diako the functionality of Diak’s quality system is visible in many ways. Students are involved in developing Diak and their feedback is considered in detail, says the Executive Director Ms. Sanni Kupiainen from O’Diako.

The result of Diak’s audit is due in December 2020. When awarded, the quality label is valid six years.
