Welcome to the field – a welcome speech for those who have started their studies

At the beginning of the studies, the alumni’s welcome speech encourages the new student to cope with both career choices and especially studies. In the welcome speech, the alumni can reminisce about their own study time and share, for example, tips on what helped them over the difficulties or challenges during their studies. We also want alumni work to become familiar to students from the beginning of their studies.

Alumni panels

In the alumni panels, Diak’s current students hear what all they can do after graduating with their degree. In the panel, alumni from different jobs talk about their own study time, career path and the challenges and joys of everyday life. Several panels will be held during the semester. Alumni panels open up a perspective on the student’s own career planning.

Welcome to working life – a speech for graduates

At the graduation ceremony, an alumnus gives a speech on the theme “Welcome to worklife!”. The graduate is invited to take a step into working life after their studies.

In the speech, you can, for example, share your own thoughts and expectations on the eve of graduation and bring encouragement, tips and greetings from working life based on your own experiences.

Mentoring programme

Mentoring is the guidance and support that a more experienced person gives to an evolving mentee. In Diak’s mentoring programme, the mentor is an alumnus and an actor is a Diak student in the final stages of their studies.

The mentoring programme has been developed in collaboration with an alumni. The goal of Diak’s mentoring programme is to provide the student with a travel partner from Diak’s alumni who acts as a companion on the eve of this challenging stage in life, transition from being a student to entering to the working life. Alumni support is important peer experience for a student.

Mentoring programme is a good opportunity for development also for the mentor. As a mentor, the alumni can reflect on their own skills and professional growth and challenge themselves while being able to support the actor in professional transition. Meetings can also be arranged remotely. If necessary, Diak will support the mentoring process between the mentor and the actor. You will receive a certificate of participation in the mentoring program.

The mentoring programme lasts for one semester and includes about five meetings. The process begins and ends with a joint meeting of mentors and actors.

The next mentoring programme starts in autumn 2026.
