Students
• know how to apply psychosocial approaches in mental health and substance abuse work
• know how to describe and apply information on the significance of a confidential and supportive collaboration relationship in the treatment of various kinds of customers/patients
• know how to apply their pharmacotherapy knowledge as they plan, execute and assess a patient’s pharmacotherapy
• know how to analyse the main principles of community treatment, psychoeducation and debriefing
• are familiar with the process of crisis work and know how to support customers of various ages in various life situations and guide them to appropriate crisis services
• are familiar with the key Finnish methods of preventing and interfering in bullying in schools, daycare and work communities
• participate in the job supervision of individuals, teams and work communities or job supervision discussions to develop their professionalism

Students
• Identification of the student’s attitudes and values as they encounter an intoxicated patient and their immediate circle and knowing how to analyse ethically challenging situations
• Identification of the needs of an intoxicated patient in a versatile manner and finding ways to respond to them
• Ability to integrate information regarding substance abuse and/or substance use disorders to other illnesses
• Knowing how to use the mandate of their profession in preventative and rehabilitative substance abuse work that reduces problems on the level of the individual, immediate community and society
• Knowing how to use and develop nursing and rehabilitation methods in a way that is purposeful for the patient and support the substance abuser’s immediate circle
• Identification of factors related to occupational safety and knowing how to develop good practices
