Students
– understand the basics of the medical treatment of the most common diseases of the elderly and know how to apply the information in nursing
– know how to assess the nutritional state and need for treatment of an aging person and its significance in rehabilitation and preventing the weakening of the ability to function
– know how to support and guide older persons with memory disorders and their immediate circle in coping in the daily life despite the disorder and weakened ability to function
– know how to assess the risk factors that increase the need for services related to the health, living conditions and life situation of the elderly and instruct the use of existing services
– know how to apply evidence-based data and assess the quality of care

– understand the characteristics of patient safety in pharmacotherapy within elder care
– understand the basics of clinical pharmacology in pharmacotherapy of the most common diseases of the elderly and know how to apply the information in nursing
– know how to guide pharmacotherapy and its self-monitoring to patients and their immediate circle
– know how to use drug databases and apply the information in pharmacotherapy
– know how to execute the various forms of drug calculations without errors and understand the significance of the operations in nursing
