The Social Disadvantage in Finland Map Site helps the user to understand regional differences and to target services more effectively according to local needs. Users gain a comprehensive view of the situation in different areas through multiple indicators. The service increases understanding of the social and economic impacts of disadvantage and illustrates opportunities for reducing inequalities in wellbeing.

Who is it for?

The map siteis aimed at planners and projects involved in regional development. It can be used, for example, in the preparation of wellbeing plans and reports.

The indicators behind the map are based on thorough research and development work. Diak’s map site has received national media attention for illustrating inequality. In fact, the site was awarded joint second place in Statistics Finland’s “Data Achievers” competition in autumn 2021.
