Diak succeeded in increasing the response rate in the alumni career monitoring survey. Diak also received excellent ratings from respondents for its degree programmes.
Diak increased its response rate in this year’s national career monitoring survey for alumni to 54,5 percent. This was the third-highest result among all universities of applied sciences. Diak’s previous record response rate was in 2022, when it reached 54.2 percent. In qualitative indicators, Diak came out on top: the average score for questions related to the funding model was 4,4, the highest of all universities of applied sciences.
The questions related to the funding model examine, among other things, satisfaction with the degree in terms of career relevance. Diak’s respondents gave excellent scores in almost all areas. The only exception was entrepreneurial skills, where the score remained low (2,6).
The increase in responses is important because it directly affects Diak’s funding. The career monitoring survey includes questions selected for the funding model, which aim to assess the quality of education. Based on responses that influence the funding model, the Ministry of Education and Culture allocates 3 percent of basic funding to universities of applied sciences.
– The rise in the response rate is a great achievement, and it’s especially wonderful that the feedback we received on our degrees is excellent. This shows that our alumni find their degree meaningful for their careers. The survey results help us further develop our education to meet the changing competence needs of working life, says Sanna Wesanko, Director of Education and Vice Rector.
Student calling campaign encouraged responses
The national career monitoring survey for universities of applied sciences is conducted annually for graduates from five years ago. This year, the target group was those who graduated in 2020. The survey is sent directly to the target group via text message and email from a centralized system. Universities of applied sciences can contact their own respondents during the survey period. Alumni outreach during the survey plays a key role in increasing response rates.
This year, the calling campaign was carried out by active members and students of the O’Diako student union, who called alumni in the target group and encouraged them to respond. Alumni were also reminded of the survey through an alumni newsletter and social media.
The survey examines the employment situation of Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree alumni as well as their satisfaction with their degree and career. The survey was conducted from October 8 to November 9, 2025.
Using the results is part of Diak’s quality work. The responses are utilized in the development of Diak’s degrees and curricula.
