Diak has been invited to join the EduCare 5.0 alliance, which is preparing an application for the European Universities Initiative (EUI). The consortium aims to strengthen social sustainability by renewing European health care education as well as health and well-being services.
The EUI is a European Union initiative through which higher education institutions across Europe build deep, strategic cooperation in education, research, development and innovation (RDI), and the development of higher education services. Its goal is to enhance the quality, attractiveness and impact of European higher education.
“The EduCare 5.0 consortium particularly promotes social sustainability, health, well-being and digitalisation across different regions of Europe. The alliance consists of multidisciplinary higher education institutions and is coordinated by the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSBI),” says Anna-Maija Ohlsson, Diak’s RDI and Impact Director.
The consortium brings together European higher education institutions that are committed to innovatively developing the future of health and well-being services in a digital and socially responsive way. Its long-term vision emphasises, for example, the strengthening of research infrastructures, user-driven health technologies and the development of social and health care services.
The alliance develops solutions to future healthcare challenges, such as the growing workforce shortage, population ageing, an increase in chronic illnesses and the evolving competence needs of health professionals brought about by digitalisation.
Diak’s participation in the EduCare 5.0 alliance strengthens the university’s international engagement and Finland’s position within the European higher education landscape.
“This collaboration will integrate Diak’s expertise even more closely into European educational and RDI development. It enables participation in the creation of joint European degrees, development projects and digital service solutions in the health sector,” Ohlsson says.
