Dr. Johanna Lammi has been selected as Diak’s new Service Director. She starts in her new position on 30 November 2020.  

UAS rectors and student unions appeal to students to stop the spread of coronavirus

Finland’s coronavirus situation is rapidly deteriorating, and there are also chains of infection among students at universities of applied sciences. This has led to an increase in distance learning and even to the closure of campuses in different parts of Finland.

Masks are worn in general exams

Diak wants to ensure the safety of all students, because also students at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 might participate the exam. Therefore, masks are worn in general exams as of 1st October. We also remind students and staff on acting in a responsible manner at campuses.

Diak’s Rector Tapio Kujala starts as TAMKs Rector in January 2021

Diak’s CEO, Rector Tapio Kujala has been selected as Tampere UAS’ (TAMK) CEO, Rector. He works in Diak until the end of 2020 and starts in his new position in Tamk in January 2021.

Rainbow flag torn down at Helsinki campus – Diak denounces the act

In the framework of Helsinki Pride Week, Diak is flagging in honour of the rights of sexual and gender minorities at Helsinki campus this week. Last night the rainbow flag at Helsinki campus was torn down by an unknown person.

Diak recommends downloading contact tracing app Koronavilkku

Diak recommends that its students and staff take Koronavilkku application into use. The app helps to trace chains of infection and to ensure safety at campuses.

Diak’s quality system is audited this week

The quality system of Diaconia University of Applied Sciences is audited between 1st and 2nd of September 2020 by external auditor team set up by the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre Karvi. The evaluation round is a retake, because Diak’s quality system did not meet the requirements of the last audit in 2017.

Diak continues preparations to shrink its campus network: the decision will be made latest in May 2021

The Executive Board of Diaconia University of Applied Sciences decided in its meeting on 25th of August 2020 to continue preparations to shrink Diak’s campus network from five to three campuses.
