Master’s Degree Programme in Global Health Care
The Global Health Care programme is a joint degree programme offered by Diaconia University of Applied Sciences, Arcada University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (Kenya).
This degree programme is suitable for candidates with an interest in disaster management and emergency preparedness in the health care context. The programme equips students for demanding national and international tasks in positions of leadership, planning and development.
Our graduates receive training in four areas, including
- evidence based global health care: ethics and values
- global health care research and development
- global health care policies and actors
- incident and emergency work.
Applicants who have a suitable bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant work experience gained after the completion of that bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply.
Candidates who have a suitable bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields can apply:
- occupational therapy
- public health nursing
- clinical medicine
- public health
- suitable bachelor’s degree in social services.
Please note that eligibility for studies at Diak is given only by a Bachelor’s degree in the health care field (Nurse, Public Health Nurse or Deaconess) or Bachelor’s degree in Social Services.
Applicants also need to have at least three years of relevant work experience gained after the completion of their university degree (bachelor’s degree). Relevant work experience obtained after completion of a post-secondary or higher vocational level diploma in Finland (opisto- tai ammatillisen korkea-asteen tutkinto, in any field of education) but prior to taking the higher education degree is also accepted.
