The new CEO, Rector of Diak Elina Juntunen has started in her new position on 25th of January 2021. Leading Diak according to the UAS’ strategy is the crucial task for the new rector.

Studying and working in Diak aims for building a sustainable and equal society.

– We work hard for sustaining, increasing, and developing the skill of encountering in the society. This skill is needed by the professionals we educate in the fields of social work, nursing, diaconia and interpreting. The skill of encountering is also needed in gaining societal impact and changing structures so that our diverse society is good for everyone, Juntunen says.

Juntunen says that the new strategy of Diak is the base for the future steps of the organisation.

– It sets the schemes for the direction and determines the focus areas of our work. Our strategy is challenging and ambitious, Juntunen tells.

According to the strategy, Diak will offer studies with moving campus model and to shrink its campus network. Diak has five campuses at the moment: in Helsinki, Oulu, Pieksämäki, Pori and Turku.

The strategy determines that the number of campuses will be decreased to three campuses in the coming years. There is not yet a decision on how the new campus network will look like. The Board of Directors should decide on the new campus network latest in May 2021.

– My task is to build a road map on how we will implement the new strategy to practice together with the Board of Directors, the Executive Group and Diak’s staff, Elina Juntunen outlines.
