Instructions for Open UAS students during the state of emergency

1. Extending the right to study

If the modules you enrolled on for this spring are moved to a later time (e.g. some simulations), your study entitlement will be extended so that you can finish your studies.

In this case, please contact the Open UAS Study Office (avoin@diak.fi)

NB!: If you are studying and receiving unemployment benefits and the delay causes problems with tracking the advancement of your studies, you must contact the TE services via their e-service portal as soon as possible.

According to information from TE services education counselling, the lack of progression which results from Diak’s learning practices will be taken into account in the tracking of study progressHowever, students must be active and contact the TE services personally to notify them of any delays.

2. Compensatory studies for open path and module students

We offer the option for compensatory studies without an additional fee for open path and module students if the placement required for the study packet is cancelled entirely or partially.

In this case, students must contact their study guidance counsellor so that they can check what compensatory studies equate to the phase they are currently completing. The study guidance counsellor will inform the Open UAS Study Office of the need for compensatory studies. In order to take part in compensatory studies, the student is not required to contact their lecturers or enrol on any of the study modules on the Open UAS page that aren’t specifically opened for them for free enrolment.

3. The Open UAS direct application

Diak is planning to change the eligibility for Open UAS direct applications to 51 credits. This way, the possible missing credits from the semester’s placement would not prevent the applicant from participating in the direct application process in the health care sector. The selection criteria are the same for all applicants, so the same credit limit applies to those who apply to social service sector education as well. We encourage all open path students to complete the semester modules and possible compensatory studies on time so that they can continue their studies in the autumn. Please follow the instructions on the direct application process on Diak’s website.
